Other Lies has been created in 2017 by Stéphane Debuire, author, composer and guitarist, living in the suburban region of Paris.
Other Lies explores the dark sonorities of Alternative Rock with introspective lyrics about faith, loneliness, alienation, aging and love. Other Lies's catalogue feature two albums: “Beyond Fur” (2020) and “Surfacing” (2022).
An independent rock band from Paris, Other Lies blends the energy and creativity of movements originating from Punk (Alternative, New Wave, Post Punk, No Wave), the psychedelic, dreamlike atmospheres of electronic music, and the richness of acoustic instruments (Zither, Santur). Drawing from diverse influences, Other Lies is eager to experiment outside traditional songwriting rules.
The lyrics embrace a cynical yet poetic view of the world, focusing on the need to find an inner spiritual path despite materialistic, nihilistic, or consumerist approaches. Their songs, representing a journey between East and West, present nostalgic and hallucinatory visions, inspired by writers such as Hunter S. Thompson, Pierre Loti, and Stefan Zweig.

The debut album Beyond Fur, released in 2020, is characterized by a raw New Wave sound based on a rhythm box/bass combination and airy guitars, with lyrics exploring the duplicity of human nature and the fear of abandonment.
Surfacing, the second concept album released in 2022, required more detailed production (acoustic drums and mixing by Adrien Garbar, mastering by Raph Ing). The songs are more complex and organic, inspired by the Greek myth of Actaeon, exploring the boundless nature of human desires.
Other Lies has released its new single Teens 4 Today on April, 25 2025 as a first extract of their third studio Album to be released soon.
